WTTC Unveils New Seven Principles to Fast-Track Sustainable Prosperity in Destinations
The World Travel and Tourism Council has officially unveiled a landmark framework consisting of seven core principles designed to help destination management organizations (DMOs) convert raw visitor growth into equitable, shared prosperity.
The guidelines encourage cities and rural boards to utilize real-time visitor data to manage crowd distribution, promote off-season travel, and ensure tourism revenue directly supports local micro-enterprises. Concurrently, the WTTC announced a deepened alliance with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to accelerate net-zero targets across the global hospitality and aviation value chain.
